Artist Statement

As a minimalistic painter, I embrace simplicity as a powerful tool for expression. Through my work, I aim to distill complex emotions and ideas into their purest forms, inviting viewers to engage in a dialogue with the essential elements of color, shape, and space.

I am fascinated with patterns because they provide regularity, order and balance. Patterns in art serve as the intricate threads weaving together cultural narratives, aesthetic harmony and mathematical precision. Patterns captivate the human eye and ignite the imagination.

During the past years I have been focusing on making sleek and simple paintings with a raw edge, experimenting with layering, scraping, and dripping paint. I attempt to create dynamic compositions that evoke a sense of movement and spontaneity. Mixing different mediums such as tape, acrylic, and transparent mediums I open up endless possibilities for experimentation. This way I can explore the interplay between transparent and opaque layers, creating depth and dimension in my work.

In my latest works I have been concentrating on making series of paintings within the same theme. My main motivation is a quest to combine multible variations within different themes. Sometimes this results in a pattern with a complex structure and at other times, in a simple and clear rhythm.

By distilling complex ideas to their core essence, I aim to evoke a sense of serenity and clarity, hoping my public can find solace and meaning in the elegant simplicity of the minimalist aesthetic.
